Alex Kompothecras, the main cast member of MTV’s locally shot and set reality show “Siesta Key,” claims he was punched in the mouth outside a South Tampa bar.
Kompethecras, who is also the son of legal and medical referral service 1-800-ASK-GARY founder Gary Kompothecras, said in a comment on an Instagram post that his jaw was broken.
According to a Tampa Police Department report, Kompethecras was at the bar MacDinton’s on Sept. 14 when he got involved in a verbal altercation. He was escorted off the property, after which he said a white male in his 20s walked up and punched him with a closed fist in the mouth.
An officer responded and said Kompethecras had a busted lip and was bleeding slightly from the left side of his mouth, but was not missing any teeth and did not appear to suffer any major injuries. Kompethecras initially identified the suspect, but then made several comments saying he was not absolutely sure it was him, according to the report.
Ultimately, Kompethecras decided not to press charges and said he would sign a complaint withdrawal, but wanted the incident documented.
Kompothecras was the subject of national controversy after it was revealed he was friends with the person accused of dragging a shark behind his boat on video, as well as reportedly posting a since-deleted video of a hammerhead shark being shot by a gun on his Instagram account.
